Blacksmithing Experience Day - Beginners
Come and learn the craft of blacksmithing in our off-grid forge at Riverside House, with Clare Collier.
In this hands on course, you'll learn from scratch the basics of the whole process and create a bottle opener to take home. No prior experience is needed for this day and you will be instructed through each stage which will include:
Keeping the fire hot using our beautifully restored bellows.
Hammering to shape the metal into a functional product.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of Riverside House.
If you've always wanted to know how to blacksmith, but not sure where to start then this is the perfect day course for you.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be a health and safety briefing before the course begins.
Please read the information below carefully.
Wear closed-toed shoes, preferably boots or steel-toe capped.
Wear non-flammable, long-sleeved, and legged clothing I.e. denim jeans and a cotton long-sleeved top. Ideally, ensure that trousers cover the tops of your boots. Tie long hair back so it doesn’t catch fire.
Bring appropriate layers for cold weather. Whilst the fires get hot, the forge is open-fronted and is subject to external temperatures.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Bring a packed lunch with you.
